This is exactly what I needed for my PSP. When I lost my charger I didn't know what one I would need so I did have to go to Sony's website to be sure this was a perfect match for my system. This is only the AC adapter though, and not the one that can be used in the car. I was glad to find that I didn't need to purchase both since I only needed the one.
This knock off brand charger lasted only a few months. Don't be fooled, this is not made by Sony and is not anywhere near as sturdy as the real thing. Don't make the mistake of thinking this is the real thing. It won't last more than a few months.
They didn't have AC adapters in stock so they told me to wait. It works as well as the original and, after a couple of weeks of use, it didn't die. You call Sony's warranty service if your PSP is still under warranty or you look for a replacement at Amazon. You will have to ship it to them - for some reason, they want you to pay if you ship the adapter only and they will cover shipping back to you. I wasn't THAT lucky. limited warranty- Made in the PhilippinesI will grant this AC adapter 3 stars meaning "It's Okay" because, even though it works, its predecessor was short-lived and - see story below - Sony seems unable to get as many new ones as needed to replace failed ones under their warranty obligations. chord- Input: AC 100 - 240V, 0.3A, 50/60Hz- Output: DC 5V, 2000mA- 1 yr.
Does this mean that lots of AC adapters die prematurely or is it just Sony unable to provide for a normal amount of warranty replacements. I don't know but my one-month wait and the fact the the original only lasted six months make me suspicious.______________________________________Warranty support story:So, what do you do when your original PSP AC Adapter dies. As far as I can tell, this is the official Sony AC adapter for the PSP. and some proof of purchase - they were okay with me printing the Amazon invoice for proof. At that point, they will tell you that you have to send your PSP in for repair and they will offer to send you a prepaid box for UPS to pick it up. IF you know for a fact that it's the AC adapter (I did because we have other PSPs in the house and could test) tell them so and the Sony person may understand that all you need fixing is the AC adapter, not the PSP. If they find the AC adapter to be defective - they did, in our case - they will replace it with a new one, if or when they get one in stock. Not totally bad but. Shortly after that, I got my 'free' or consolation Little Big Planet for the PSP from Sony.
Same can't be said about the original AC adapter which stopped working after six months and had to be replaced.Specs/details:- Compatible with PSP 1000/2000/3000- Contents: AC adaptor, 5 ft. One month later, they still didn't have AC adapters in stock but they had a waiting list so the nice Sony person suggested that I buy one from Amazon and they would send me a free game instead. Ours was under warranty so we called Sony. They will want your PSP's serial number, model number (can't they deduce that from the serial number.). I agreed and, two days later I had my new AC adapter from Amazon. still, this after more than one month waiting.
Had this product more than a year now. Works great considering i carry it everywhere. So happy its not one of those "made in China" cheap imitations that break in a week. Just wish it was smaller, takes as much room as my psp.
The adapter works great came in great packaging and delivered fast. I would definitely order from here in the future.
